![]() ![]() The Dremel Velocity definitely has the power and speed that you’d want from a Pro-level multi-tool, but its noise, cumbersome ergonomics, and lack of vibration control might get on your nerves. While you’ll need hearing protection with any of our multi-tools, the Velocity is a full 10 dB(A) higher than the quietest. At 102 dB, it’s not the loudest model in our tests, but it also isn’t too far off from that mark. It might not surprise you too much to find that the Dremel Velocity, with all its raw power and vibration, also generates a fair bit of noise. The Dremel Velocity is near the bottom of the group – a disappointing result considering the long cutting/scraping intention of its design. ![]() Fein owns the vibration control category and there are others that do an admirable job. Depending on how much effort the manufacturer does or doesn’t put into vibration dampening technology, these vibrations can cause some discomfort if the tool sees some extended, uninterrupted use. Oscillating multi-tools tend to vibrate a fair amount thanks to their designed action. That puts it right behind the Festool Vecturo, and the Rockwell Sonicrafter AW400 which also has a 5° option. Overall, it finished 3rd in our speed testing with an average plunge cut speed of 11.7 seconds. It has nine different speed settings on its variable speed dial, ending with the somewhat foreboding “Hyper Speed” setting. Most oscillating multi-tools are around 3.6°. Anyway, the Dremel Velocity employs a 5° oscillation arc for aggressive cuts.

![]() Here's where things get fun: Shadow Warrior 2 doles out just enough ammunition in a given level so that players can expect to run their ammo counts down in normal difficulty or higher. You never have to get rid of guns, but you're limited to a total of eight during live gameplay, which you can switch to using a weapon-wheel interface. (There's a whole 'nother upgrade system to emphasize certain mechanics, such as health, magic meters, and weapon-specific boosts, but the gun one is more fun to toy with.) This is also the rare weapon-crafting game where players can freely undo their customizations and redo them in different combinations, with no penalty. Want to layer electric damage, increase the clip size, or add an extra barrel to any weapon? If you find the right gems, you can upgrade however you please. The result is essentially a make-your-own-weapon twist on the Borderlands series' wild guns. Each weapon accepts up to three gems, and these bolster a number of stats depending on their color and type. Weapon classes like shotguns, grenade launchers, pistols, and katana swords come by default in quite a few interesting flavors, which you can embolden further with the game's primary loot system of gems. AdvertisementĮach weapon has three gem slots. The best trick, then, is how frenetic, fast, and fun Shadow Warrior 2 feels, fight after fight after fight. Combat plays out pretty much the same when you revisit a level. What you do in a given level doesn't change much just because a shrine has been moved or a path between mountainous crags has changed direction. It's a nifty party trick, but not enough that Flying Hog Studios deserves high praise for making an "endlessly replayable" game. Certain enemy-wave patterns and physical level structures will appear every time you load a given mission, but many other elements, including how the full level is arranged, are randomly shuffled each time. Each mission takes place in a semi-random level. You can safely skip the chit-chat and follow a basic mission structure without worrying about why you, as ass-kicking samurai-for-hire Lo Wang, are so busy killing undead soldiers, hulking robots, and exploding bugs (though the in-mission banter between Wang and his spiritual advisor explains enough, and it's fun, to boot). It's a shame, because the game's cheesiest acting and funniest one-liners would be more of a gas if they weren't so obscured by endless, pointless chatter. Series hero Lo Wang yammers endlessly with a number of the game's constant NPCs, including a wizened quest giver, a mob boss conduit, and a snarky young woman whose spirit is trapped in his brain. If you don't hit "skip" during a cut scene, you'll hear these characters yak for minutes at a time with a mix of confusing plot development details, stiff B-movie acting, and cheesy action-hero dialogue. There's a plot in this game, allegedly, but I honestly couldn't tell you what's going on for much of Shadow Warrior 2. It's but one of the many influenced-by-Deadpool things you'll find in this game. I assume this happens at some point, however. I have yet to recreate this loading screen shot of a selfie-stick murder in Shadow Warrior 2. ![]() The baddies are bigger the guns, swords, and launchers are more plentiful the customization, loot, and crafting systems are hookier and the giant battles take place in more colorful, wild levels that shine particularly well in co-op-especially if you help friends play through levels you've already beaten. Any surprise that the so-so reboot got a sequel will vanish as soon as you lay eyes on Shadow Warrior 2-the kind of game that the 2013 edition should have been in the first place. It felt simultaneously too new and too old-a nostalgic rehash, not a nostalgic delight. That memory probably wasn't swayed much by the series' 2013 reboot from Polish game developer Flying Wild Hog-a solid, budget-priced reimagining that neither reinvented the FPS wheel nor proved delightfully faithful to the original. Shadow Warrior: You either remember it as "another one of those Duke Nukem-y games from the '90s," or you worship at its altar thanks to memories of it being one of your earliest first-person shooter experiences. If no fresh water is introduced to cool the rods then they continue to heat up. The high temperatures that the fuel rods create boil water and continually turn it into steam. If the fuel rods are no longer being cooled-as has happened at all three reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi power plant operating at the time of the earthquake-then the zirconium cladding will swell and crack, releasing the uranium fuel pellets and fission byproducts, such as radioactive cesium and iodine, among others. Though control rods have stopped the uranium fission process that drives normal operation of a nuclear reactor, the byproducts of that continue to split and generate heat. The 3.7-meter-long nuclear fuel used at Fukushima is composed of uranium oxide pellets encased in a zirconium cladding. "The cesium and iodine showing up in releases shows the fuel has been damaged." You get enough and some spark source and you get an explosion," explains nuclear engineer Michael Golay of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. "The hydrogen accumulates outside of containment but inside the reactor building. in 1979 as a result of the meltdown there-caused by nuclear fuel rods experiencing extremely high temperatures stripping the hydrogen out of the plant's steam. The culprit in all three cases is likely a build-up of explosive hydrogen gas-as occurred at Three Mile Island in the U.S. ![]() This followed an explosion March 11 that ripped the roof off reactor No. 2 at the stricken Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. While the wrist is pleasingly simple and low-profile - a stretchy cuff with an added stretchy insert for extra volume - it isn't quite wide enough for easy fitting over glove cuffs. It feels relatively close-fitting too, without a huge amount of room in the arms for a bent elbow, and fairly tight at the armpits when you're wearing several under-layers. The hem drops lower at the rear than at the front for added protection, but not by enough to really cover the bum. Its reversibility gives you two different warmth/breathability options in one, and though the hood is not the best for climbers its active cut is well suited to hillwalkers, runners and ultralight backpackers.Ĭut a little on the short side, the Atom does not offer quite the same level of lower body protection as some jackets in this test. If you wear the Reversa inside-out, there are no external pockets.Ī jacket at the lighter end of the scale, the Reversa is better considered as active insulation, a replacement for a midweight fleece, rather than a super warm piece for belaying. Positioned outside the insulation layer, these don't provide much hand warmth. On the outer side there are two decent sized zipped hand pockets, which sit high enough up to remain accessible when wearing a rucksack hipbelt or harness. The main zip has a glove-friendly tab, but only one zipper so you can't unzip from the bottom - only a disadvantage if you're using the Reversa as a belay jacket, which as we've said is not really its remit. The sleeves and hem have just a simple stretch binding rather than any adjustment this works well at the cuffs we've already mentioned the drawback of a hem with no adjustment. There's not a lot going on here, but if you regard the Reversa primarily as a lightweight and fairly minimalist fair weather insulation piece then simplicity is an advantage. Overall this is one of the lighter jackets on test, and that should tell you what to expect in terms of warmth. 80g/m2 feels minimal if you're standing around in the cold, but a sensible weight of insulation on the move. In performance terms we can't instantly tell the difference between this and other branded insulation - it feels warm for its weight, quick drying, and still offers a measure of performance when wet. Sandwiched between these two different fabrics is Hydroloft Elite Pro, a synthetic insulation developed by Berghaus themselves. There's a bit of stretch to the outer fabric, and both sides of the jacket are soft to the touch and don't feel or sound too crinkly. In use you can instantly feel the difference between the two. Want to keep cool while working hard? Stick it on reversed, with the air permeable polyamide inner fabric on the outside, and you've a really well vented insulation piece. Want more warmth? Wear it the normal way round and the windproof Pertex Microlight layer is on the outside, allowing the insulation to work to the max. The most obvious feature of the Reversa, and the thing that sets this model apart, is its ability to be two different jackets in one. This low profile hood can be worn beneath a helmet instead, but it's not a great fit - particularly if the collar is zipped right up, when the helmet strap feels uncomfortably tight under the chin. It won't pull over a helmet readily, so the Reversa isn't great when worn in belay jacket mode. There's no volume adjustment or wire reinforcement, just a simple stretch rim, so in stormy weather the hood billows about. With the zip done up fully the collar rides up to mouth level to offer plenty of weather protection to the lower face however the rim of the hood sits high on the head, so unless you're wearing a hat underneath you do tend to get a cold forehead in windy conditions. The hood has a good sculpted shape that fits the head neatly. Thanks to some really good tailoring, and plenty of length in the sleeves, arm movement for climbing is very free and the jacket stays put beneath a rucksack hipbelt or harness, not tending to pull up when you raise your arms. ![]() ![]() Length in the hem is short-to-medium at the front, but drops lower at the rear to offer decent bum-and-kidney coverage. When things get wild, a shell on top is called for. However it also means that the jacket can billow in the wind a fair bit, and because there's no hem adjustment to cinch in tight - just a simple stretch binding - it's not the most storm-worthy of the jackets on test. The Reversa has a fairly roomy fit in the body - some might say boxy - which helps with fitting on top of other layers. ![]() Prior to the wedding, the couple made arrangements with my team to prepare a same-day slideshow to present to guests via phone during the cocktail hour.
